Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has described corruption in Nigeria as a hydra headed monster.
Obasanjo said to effectively fight corruption in Nigeria, the president and his top aides, as well strategic institutions, must be above the board.
The former president speaking on the issue, in a lecture delivered at Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford in the UK, said fighting corruption is an endless process and not a one-day affair.
He accused the Yar’adua administration of dismantling the anti-graft structures that his administration put in place, by removing the pioneer chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Nuhu Ribadu.
The Yar’adua administration, according to Obasanjo, allowed former Delta State governor, James Ibori to push for the removal of Ribadu.
Obasanjo also said that Nuhu Ribadu before being removed from office was poisoned, but survived.
