The abducted Professor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Olayinka Adegbeingbe, says more than n5 million ransom was paid to secure his freedom from his kidnappers.
The Professor was abducted from his car while travelling along the Ife-Ibadan Expressway on Sunday night.
Speaking in an interview after regaining freedom, the Professor says that his abductors who he claimed were Fulani’s, initially demanded n30 million ransom, which was later negotiated down to five million and 400 naira.
He adds that his abductors carried four guns, multiple rounds of ammunition and other dangerous weapons.
