NUT thanks Amosun for recalling 31 sacked and suspended civil servants

National president of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Micheal Olukoya, has thanked Governor Ibikunle Amosun for recalling 12 of the 16 dismissed and 19 suspended for their roles in the celebration of the World’s Teachers Day last October in Abeokuta.

Olukoya also asked the governor to extend the gesture to the state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Akeem Ambali, the chairman of the state’s NUT, Dare Ilekoya, and two other union officials .

Olukoya stated this at a news conference he addressed in Abeokuta, after an emergency meeting of the executive committee of the state branch of NUT.

The NUT president said the pardon is regarded as a Christmas gift to teachers all over the country.

He thanked former President Obasanjo, and top Ogun state paramount rulers, including the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle for their intervention resulting into the recall of the dismissed and suspended officials.
