Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) has listed Ogun as one of the 22 states which failed to recruit new teachers into both primary and secondary schools within the last five to 10 years
Some of the other states, include Taraba,Niger, Adamawa, Ondo, Delta, Benue, Nasarawa, Bayelsa, Rivers, Kogi And Oyo.
NUT President, Muhammed Idris, who made this known says the development is impacting negatively on the basic education in the 22 states
According to the NUT president, the situation had increased the workload of the few teachers available
Meanwhile, Ogun State government has initiated a process for the recruitment of additional teachers into its primary schools.
