The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the upgrading of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic to Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology.
The approval for the upgrade was announced by the NUC Executive Secretary, Professor Abubakar Rasheed at the headquarters of the Commission in Abuja, after the technical committee inaugurated last April by Governor Ibikunle Amosun, submitted the documents for the registration of the institution from polytechnic to university of science and technology.
Earlier, the technical committee headed by former NUC Secretary, Professor Peter Okebukola in company of Governor Ibikunle Amosun, Professor Rahman Bello, Mrs Ronke Folarin, Dr. Ebenezer Nkom and other members of the technical committee, submitted the documents for the take-off of the polytechnic to the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Dr Masa’udu Kazaure, after Governor Amosun commissioned the Board’s secretariat building in Kaduna.
Some of the items contained in the documents are the polytechnic physical master plan, academic brief, and the polytechnic establishment law passed three months ago.
The Moshood Abiola University of Technology becomes the 85th public University and 153rd university in Nigeria.
