Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has directed Muslim Community nationwide to look out for the new moon of Shawal to signal the end of Ramadan fast.
The Council asked them to look out for the moon on Monday, immediately after sunset.
The Council’s Deputy Secretary General, Professor Salisu Sheu, who issued the directive in a statement said the decision was based on the advice of the National Moon Sighting Committee.
He explained that if the new moon is sighted on Monday, the Sultan of Sokoto would declare Tuesday as the end of Ramadan fast.
If the new moon is not sighted on Monday, he said that Wednesday would automatically be the end of Ramadan fast.
