Northern state governor’s forum has expressed concern over the reports that herders belonging to a particular ethnic group are being targeted in parts of south west and south east regions
The governors in a statement by the forum chairman, Simon Lalong, asserted that Nigerians have the right to reside wherever they desire without any form of molestation or discrimination
They call for calm and caution in the affected states who might be aggrieved or targeted to exercise restraint
Nigeria, according to the governors is going through a lot at the moment, warning that escalating tensions will aggravate the situation to levels that might threaten the national security
Instead of stigmatising a particular ethnic group for crimes of some of them, criminal elements among them should be isolated, exposed and made to face the law without prejudice to their ethnic background
