Northern Elders Forum of PDP have asked delegates to the December 9 national convention of the party in Abuja, to vote only for the national chairmanship candidates from the South West region.
The PDP leaders, in a communique issued at the end of their meeting on Thursday night in Abuja, strongly support the South West to produce the next national chairman of the party.
Their support for the South West, according to the communique, signed by former governor Ibrahim Shekarau, is to give every part of the country a sense of belonging in PDP.
PDP leaders at the meeting include former governors Jonah Jang, Aliyu Babangida and Gabriel Suswam, as well as former Senate President David Mark, and former Senate Deputy President, Ibrahim Mantu.
Others are former PDP national chairman, Doctor Ahmadu Ali, Professor Jerry Gana, Senator Tunde Ogbeha, and former minister, Abba Moro, and Nenadi Usman.
Meanwhile, the south west caretaker committee of PDP has gone to an Appeal Court, a few days to the December 9 national convention of the party.
Counsel to the committee headed by Dr Eddy Olafeso said he had filed a motion at the Appeal Court, Ado Ekiti
In the motion, the Olafeso faction wants a stay of the execution of an order of a Federal High Court, that it is not the authentic South West executive committee of PDP
Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Federal High Court, Ado Ekiti, last November 8, issued the order while ruling in an application filed by a rival faction headed by Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe. Please subscribe to our newsletter
