Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has complained about the sharp division in the rank of the Niger Delta militants, being contacted for the proposed negotiations to end attacks on the oil and gas facilities in the region.
NNPC in a statement by its spokesman, Mohammed Garba-Deen, said the division is delaying the take-off of the talks.
NNPC said instead of the militants organizing themselves into a group for the talks, are in confusion, making it difficult to wrap up the talks
In the circumstances, the corporation says the petroleum resources ministry is cautious so as not to negotiate with wrong people.
Petroleum Resources Minister, Ibe Kachikwu has been leading the government’s contact with the militants.
