Nigeria’s CJN Says Supreme Court Cannot Be Influenced

Acting Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Mohammed Tanko has said that Justices of the apex Court are independent minded in the discharge of their constitutional duties.

He also states categorically that Supreme Court could not be influenced or intimidated by anybody alive.

Justice Mohammed speaking while receiving Management Team of Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria in his office in Abuja, says Supreme Court Justice are only answerable to their God and conscience while delivering judgement.

Supreme Court Justices, according to him, always take their time in taking notes and writing judgments to avoid making mistakes.

The acting Nigeria’s Chief Judge also says that Supreme Court Justice before delivering judgments subject every case before them to intense debates and arguments during conferences so as to be dispassionate and objective.
