Most Nigerians have disagreed that their country is the best in the world, despite various challenges facing it.
This is the position of several people polled on the issue on ‘QuickTake’ the opinion poll segment of Rockcity FM’s top flight programme: ‘Daybreak Show’.
Several callers on the programme have been asked if they agreed on the claim by the United Nations Deputy Secretary General, Aminat Mohammed.
The UN diplomat had said that Nigeria, despite the numerous challenges facing its people, is still the best country in the world.
About 61 percent of the respondents, disagreed with her, while 39 percent agreed that Nigeria is still the best nation in the world.
Those opposing the comment of the UN diplomat, point to the growing security challenges, spiraling unemployment rate, high level of corruption and abject poverty in the country.
They argue that Nigeria has the potentials of being the world’s best Nation, if its abundant resources and human resources are properly harnesses.
Respondents supporting the view of the UN diplomat, however fault those writing off Nigeria, saying it is the best, in spite of the listed challenges.
