Nigeria sends Sierra Leone out of WAFU Cup

Nigeria have defeated hard-fighting Sierra Leone 2-0 in Monday’s 2017 WAFU Cup knockout game at the Cape Coast Stadium in Ghana to secure passage into the group stages of the tournament.

Two late second half goals from Rangers International wing-back, Osas Okoro and Plateau United winger, Peter Eneji helped the Super Eagles to dump the Leone Stars out of the WAFU Cup.

The NPFL stars survived scary moments against a determined and well prepared Sierra Leone side and proceeded into the last eight.

Nigeria will battle host country Ghana in Thursday’s Group B match-day 1 encounter.

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa was voted ‘man of the match’ for several saves in the game.
