Agriculture and rural development minister, Chief Audu Ogbeh, has assured Nigerians that the country will be Self Sufficient in food within the next two years.
Ogbeh in a statement on his twitter handle to mark the World Food Day, said the country would not only achieve food self-sufficiency, it would have food surplus within the period.
To achieve the dream, the minister said the presidency plans to Install at least 10 dams in each of the 36 States, and dyke in the Riverine Areas, as well as rehabilitating the existing dams that are not functioning.
He also said cheap loans would be made available to farmers through the Bank of Agriculture (BOA).
The minister also said agricultural machinery would be brought in, and food processing encouraged to reduce the Post Harvest losses.
