Nigeria misses out at Africa free trade launch in Rwanda

Nigeria has missed out of the launch of the Africa Free Trade agreement signed by 44 African leaders in Kigali, the Rwanda capital.

President Muhammadu Buhari stayed away from the ceremony, attended by all other Africa’s major economies.

Buhari had on Sunday cancelled his trip to the ceremony, following objection of the organized labour and private sector to the likely implications of the free trade agreement on the Nigerian economy.

The free trade agreement regarded as the largest since the World Trade Centre, creates a continental market of 1.2 billion people, with a combined gross domestic product of more than 3.4 trillion dollars.
