Nigeria may receive Covid 19 vaccine before the end of January 2021

Health minister, Doctor Osagie Ehanire, gives this indication while addressing the state house correspondents at the end of the virtual meeting of the federal executive council

He explains that Nigeria is holding talks with countries and companies which had developed the vaccine

The minister, however, says that a technical committee has been set up to determine which of the various vaccines will be adopted for Nigeria

Among other issues, the committee according to him, will consider the delicateness of storage of each of the vaccine, and the cost in arriving at the one that Nigeria will import

Meanwhile, Nigeria on Wednesday recorded 930 new Covid 19 infections, regarded as the highest, since the outbreak of the virus last February in the country

The new 930 infections, surpassed 795, which until last December 11, was the highest so far

Lagos state scored the highest infection of 279,trailed by 179 in Abuja

Also, Plateau state recorded 62 new cases, Kaduna (54), Kano (52), Katsina, Imo and Jigawa (42), Rivers (38), Kwara (30), Nasarawa (19), and 15 in Yobe state

Ogun state also recorded 13 new cases, Borno (10), Oyo and Niger (9 each), Ebonyi and Bauchi (6), Edo (5), Taraba (4), as well as two each in Sokoto and Cross River states

The new infections have shot up Nigeria’s total cases to75 thousand and 62, out of which 1,200 patients had died while receiving treatment for the virus

Also, seven thousand and 87 patients are still receiving treatments nationwide, while 66,755 others had been treated and discharged
