Nigeria Had No President Hours Before Buhari’s Inauguration-VP

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, says the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, would have taken over the Presidency, following a power vacuum, hours before he and President Buhari were inaugurated on Thursday.

The Vice President says as a lawyer, he knew that Nigeria had no President between 12 midnight when Buhari and his first tenure ended, and 10.30 am when they were inaugurated for a second term.

Osinbajo, speaking at a dinner held for him and Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday night at the Presidential Villa, thanks Saraki for not taking an advantage of the situation.

The Vice President says he appreciated Saraki for not declaring himself as Acting President when the power vacuum existed.
