Nigeria Army foils Boko Haram attack

Security forces have foiled attempt by the Boko Haram fighters to recapture Pulka and Bita on the fringe of Sambisa forest in Borno state.

Army spokesman, Colonel Sani Usman, in a statement said Boko Haram fighters from the Damboa, Pulka axis of Sambisa forest launched the attacks on Tuesday on military formations in Pulka and strategic town of Bita.

He said that troops fought back the Boko Haram fighters, killing 18 of them and captured one of them.

Usman listed weapons and arms captured from the fleeing terrorists as 11 ak-47 rifles, three general purpose machine guns, one browning machine guns, 60 millimeters mortar tube, seven boxes of 12.7 millimeters of ammunition, as well as one belt of 12.7 millimeters of ammunition and two vehicles.
