Niger College Abduction: Troops In Pursuit Of Bandits, Says The Army

Army has assured that troops are in pursuit of armed bandits who abducted 42 students, staff and others from Government Science Secondary School in Kangara, Niger State

Army spokesman, Mohammed Yerima says that troops are collaborating with other security agencies for the safe return of those abducted

Earlier, Governor Abubakar Bello at a news conference in Minna, says those abducted included 27 students, three staff and 12 members of families of students in the college

The governor also says that one of the students was shot dead by the gunmen

He puts the population of students in the college at 650 before the attack

The governor then ordered the immediate closure of all boarding secondary schools in the four local government areas, such as Rafi, Shiroro, Mariga and Munya which are prone to Badits’s attacks Bello, however, vows that the state government will not pay ransom to kidnappers to secure the freedom of those abducted
