A new security outfit is to be set up to protect the Nigerian airports from terror attacks.
Aviation Minister of State, Hadi Sirika, made this known to state house correspondents after the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
When operational, the minister said that operatives of the security outfits will carry arms.
The aviation ministry is working with Interior Ministry for the setting up of the proposed security outfit which according to the minister was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari last week.
The minister explained that the security outfit will be modelled after the American Transport Safety Administration, and its operatives will be equipped with light weapons, handcuff, dogs and baton.
