A faction of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) says its one day old strike against the new petrol price continues today, despite the low compliance by workers on Wednesday.
The first day of the strike has been a mixed blessing for the NLC faction, as it failed to shut down the banks, filling stations, public transport system, air flights and lifting of petroleum products.
Also, senior civil servants and some of the junior civil servants failed to comply with the strike directive.
The faction’s Secretary General, Doctor Peter Ozo-Eson, in a statement commended unions and affliates who complied with its directive on the first day of the strike.
NLC said it salutes their courage, patriotism and sacrifice in the face of what it called the high level of treachery from other major unions.
It urged them to mobilize workers, friends and colleagues to join the strike to achieve its objectives.
