The new central labour union, United Labour Congress (ULC), has advocated for a new national minimum wage of N96,000.
The congress in a statement by its president, Joe Ajaero, said the union will ensure that the proposed N96,000 monthly wage covers all workers in the formal and informal sectors of the economy.
The congress also advocates for the introduction of a wage floor that will adjust wages automatically as in the advanced economies through an effective monitoring framework.
Also, the union promises to involve itself in the implementation of budgets by the federal and state governments.
