Northern elder’s forum has asked federal and state governments to take urgent steps to protect law abiding Fulani communities from ongoing attacks on their settlements in some states in the country
It also calls for the arrest of those involved in attacks on Fulani their families and settlements to avoid setting Nigeria on a dangerous path
The forum in a statement by its spokesman, Doctor Hakeem Baba Ahmed, says it is worried over the rise in the threat facing Fulani in the southern parts of Nigeria
It advises all law abiding Fulani communities to seek protection whenever they are available if they come under attacks, but cautions them against resorting to taking law into their hands
The Fulani settlement in Igangan in Ibarapa axis of Oyo State recently was sacked by youths, resulting in Fulani leaders and their families fleeing the state A Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo who is coordinating the attack, had vowed to flush out Fulani out of the south west region
