National Economic Council has announced a decision to decentralize the Nigeria Police Force, to effectively tackle the security challenges in the country.
The meeting of the council, presided over by acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, has set up a committee to actualize the decision.
National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, made this known while addressing state house correspondents, at the end of the meeting.
He said, the committee that will handle the decentralization process will be headed by the inspector general of police, with representatives from the six geo-political zones.
He did not explain the scope of the decentralization programme.
