The National Council of States has approved the policies taken by the Buhari administration to tackle the economic crisis, saying they are confident they will put Nigerian economy back on the path of recovery.
The meeting presided over by President Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, also approved various top appointments in the police force, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the National Population Commission (NPC).
For INEC, six National Commissioners for six geo-political zones were approves, including Mary Agbamuche Mbu for the South South, Mohammed Haruna (North Central), Ahmed Muazu (North East), Abubakar Nahuca (North West), Okechukwu Ibanu (South East) and Adekunle Ogunmola for the South West.
For NPC, five new Commissioners were approved, including Eyitayo Oyeniyi from Oyo state, Patricia Iyaya (Benue), Benedict Ukpong (Akwa Ibom), Halilu Bala (Kebbi) and Gloria Okafor for Bayelsa state.
The council also approved the appointment of the Acting Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris as the new Inspector General of Police.
