The national assembly has asked the executive arm of government to stop its alleged persecution of political opponents, and people holding contrary opinions on the state of the nation.
Members of the senate and House of Reps pass the resolution, at an emergency joint session of the two chambers held behind close door.
The lawmakers in a five point resolution, made public by the senate president on his twitter handle, accused the presidency of harassing and humiliating perceived opponents, including members of the judiciary and legislature with security agencies.
They also ask the presidency to abide by the rule of law, and protect all Nigerians.
The president, the lawmakers noted, will be held accountable for all the actions of his appointees.
