Military, other security agencies to monitor social media to curb hate speech

Military and security agencies have been directed to monitor the posting on the social media to check the growing rate of hate speeches and insecurity

Defence minister, Mansur Dan Ali, issued the directive at a meeting of the National Security Council held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja

Dan Ali explained that the military in checking social media postings, should focus largely on those of notable Nigerians

The minister also said that the military to liaise with other security agencies to share intelligence, and plan joint operations, to address the security challenges facing the country

The meeting was attended by all the service chiefs, the National Security Adviser and Inspector General of Police, as well as, the new Director General of the National Intelligence Agency
