MILE 12 MARKET SHUT AFTER RIOT LEAVES SEVERAL DEAD

Ethnic riot in mile 12 area of Lagos metropolis has left several people dead and injured.

Some policemen were also injured in the clash.

Hoodlums who hijacked the fighting which began Wednesday night also set a school in the area on fire, vandalized vehicles and looted shops and rams from the market.

Armed soldiers deployed to the scene after hours of bloody fight had restored order.

Meanwhile, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has declared a curfew in the affected areas, including Oniyanrin, Maidan, Agiliti one and Agiliti two streets.

The governor also ordered a temporary closure of mile 12 market to enable security forces to effectively restore order to the areas
