Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina state has said that the bail-out fund and the Paris/London loans refund have saved several of the state governments from collapsing after the 2015 polls.
The governor, speaking at a media summit in Abuja, asked state governors to show gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for the intervention.
He said that Buhari’s intervention has enabled state governors to pay salaries and pensions.
According to the governor, any state government that is still having problems with the payment of salaries and pensions should blame itself.
He said, “Tell me, which President has ever done this to salvage the country? I want you to imagine, if this intervention was not there, this country would have collapsed because no state could pay salaries, no state could honour obligations
“In Katsina State, the money that we used in most of the projects were from the N10bn (bailout) money we collected for infrastructure development which was given by the President. What President Buhari has done for this country, no President has ever done it. When we won election in 2015, many state governments across the country were not paying salaries and could not pay. He came out with bailout for those that have salary arrears to pay, and for those who have pension and gratuity arrears to pay. So, any governor who refused to pay refused to pay not because he has not collected the money.”
