The Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta is finalizing plans to offer additional programmes in agricultural technology and fisheries as from 2019/2020 academic session.
The polytechnic’s Rector, Doctor Samson Odedina made this known during the institution’s 2018/2019 matriculation ceremony for fresh students held at the Ojere Campus of the institution.
The rector explains that officials of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) will come in the next six months to inspect facilities for the accreditation of the programme .
According to him, the polytechnic will later add agricultural engineering as part of moves to key into the government policy to boost agricultural sector, through agro-allied industries in the country .
The rector also hints that MAPOLY is on the verge of becoming a degree awarding institution, going by the new polytechnic act, which empowers polytechnics to be at par with universities in producing high level manpower for the country.
Odedina cautions the fresh students against examination malpractices, indecent dressing, cultism and other anti-social vices while urging them to invest their energy in positive and productive works.
The polytechnic admitted 2,500 fresh students for the new academic session into its various full time and part time national diploma and higher national diploma programmes.
