A man is to die by hanging in Nasarawa State for beheading a seven year old boy in Lafia, the state capital.
The accused, John Yakubu, who was sentenced to death by a Nasarawa State High court was found in possession of a fresh head of a boy concealed in a polythene bag.
He was arrested by operatives of department of security service along with one Ishaya Daklung on July 22, 2012.
Justice James Abundaga in his judgement found him guilty based on his confessional statement to the security agency after his arrest.
In the confessional statement, the accused said he lured the boy, who was his neighbour’s son to a stream, and then drowned him, before beheading him.
Abundaga, however, sentenced the second accused, Daklung, to four years in prison with hard labour, saying that Daklung’s sentence was in line with Section 219 of the penal code. Please subscribe to our newsletter
