A 29 year old man, Yusuf Shaobana, has allegedly cut the left hand of his wife with a matchet, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The incident occurred last week monday at 7:3o in the evening at the residence of the wife, Muinat Adeleye, at 17, Ita Ogboni, Igbein in Abeokuta.
The couple blessed with two children, lived separately.
The man who has been arrested by the police has been arraigned on a sole count charge of causing grievous harm on his wife before a magistrate court in Abeokuta.
The prosecutor, Kehinde Fawunmi, told the court that the suspect, cut the hand of his wife, while they engaged in a quarrel over the missing of their child in a school.
Fawunmi explains that the wife when she discovered that the child was missing in the school, confronted the husband, accusing him of having gone to pick up the child in school.
The ensued argument developed into physical fighting, during which the wife hit her husband with a stone.
The husband in anger allegedly picked a machete and inflicted several cuts on the left hand of his wife who is now receiving treatment in a hospital.
The Magistrate, Omotola Odubanjo in her ruling rejected plea for bail by the suspect, and ordered him to be remanded in prison custody.
The case had been adjourned till November 21 for hearing.
