The Chief Executive Officer of Rockcity 101.9 FM, Abeokuta, Doctor Niran Malaolu has identified the lack of purposeful ,innovative, disciplined and committed leadership, as some of the fundamental problems retarding the socio-political and economic growth of Nigeria in the past 56 years
Malaolu who also is a former Ogun State Information and Strategy Commissioner, stated this in Lagos at a lecture he delivered at an expolatory conference organized by the Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) in collaboration with People Action for Democracy (PAD) to assess the one year of administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in office.
Speaking on the topic “What change, What deficits”, Malaolu asked Nigerians to begin to see change as a gradual process, and not an event.
He also asked Nigerians to ensure that they are part of the change process, by asking relevant questions to make leaders accountable for their stewardship.
Also speaking on the topic “what change, what prospects”, the Lagos State Information and Strategy Commissioner, Steve Ayorinde said the state government in the last one year had created new jobs through the employment trust fund scheme, and rehabilitated over 417 roads, including 117 belonging to the federal government.
Ayorinde who was represented by the Director of Public Enlighten and Community Relations, Toyin Awosika, said the proposed Fourth Mainland Bridge project would be funded by commercial banks while the Dangote refinery project at Lekki, also brightened the economic prospect of Lagos.
