Makarfi PDP faults swapping of Chibok girls with Boko Haram fighters

Chibok Girls

The Senator Ahmed Makarfi faction of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has faulted the exchange of newly freed 82 Chibok girls with some of the captured Boko Haram fighters in the military custody.

The faction’s spokesman, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, said the policy had allowed the swapped Boko Haram fighters to escape justice.

While local and international rights groups like Amnesty International and BringBackOurGirls have commended the move, the opposition party said though the release of the girls was good, freeing the terror suspects was bad.

The negotiation with the sect to effect the release of the girls, according to the faction, violates the global policy that there should not be any form of negotiations with terrorist groups.

Makarfi PDP also regards the swapping as a setback on the war against Boko Haram sect.

The PDP faction expressed concern over the piecemeal release of the abducted chibok girls by Boko Haram sect, saying it will embolden the sect to kidnap more people, hoping to gain from the demand for their release
