Lassa fever has spread to Ekiti State, leaving three persons dead.
Health commissioner, Doctor Rotimi Ojo, breaking the news in Ado Ekiti, said the three were among the five fresh cases of the disease that proved negative, in the state.
The commissioner explained that one of the two remaining cases is uncertain, while the other one is pending.
Asking people in the state not to panic, he assured that the state’s disease control team had been activated, to contain the spread of the virus.
Also, Ojo said the three isolation centres at Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti, Oba Adejuyigbe General Hospital, Ado Ekiti, and Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, are still operational.
