The Accident and Emergency Unit of the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, which was temporarily shut down, following the recent discovery of Lassa fever, has been re-opened for the admission of patients.
Also re-opened is the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital, after it has been fully fumigated and decontaminated.
The hospital’s head of public relation unit, Mr Segun Orisajo, who confirmed this development to Rockcity FM, also said that the hospital’s two staff suspected to have contacted the disease had also been discharged.
According to Orisajo, normal health services were restored to the Accident, Emergency and Intensive Care units last Saturday.
Last week, a senior nurse in the hospital lost her life, following infection from Lassa fever, while treating a patient.
