Lagos to seize property used by criminals

Properties used by kidnappers and other criminals for their operations in Lagos state will henceforth be confiscate by the State Government, as part of moves to reduce the rising cases of kidnapping and other crimes in Lagos metropolis.

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode announced the sanction at the end of the meeting of the state security council in Ikeja, Lagos.

The governor said such properties to be seized include hotels and houses serving as hideouts for criminals in the state, adding that his administration was ready to end incidences of kidnapping and militancy in the state.

The meeting was attended by the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, who asked traditional rulers and members of the public in the state to be security conscious and assist security agencies in ridding the state of criminals.
