Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state has stated that the state’s proposed light rail project will link the Lagos-Kano standard gauge rail track along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway, on its way to Ogun state capital.
Amosun made this known to newsmen on the sideline of the ground breaking ceremony of the new Lagos-Ibadan rail project in Lagos.
The Governor said the proposed state light rail project will also link the new Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge rail line at Lagos Ibadan expressway.
The state, according to the Governor will benefit more from the new Lagos-Ibadan rail project because 80 percent of the rail line will passed through Ogun state.
He said, “For any economy that would grow well and develop, their rail system must be very active. And that is why in other nations, at least 80 to 90 percent of their goods are being moved through the rail.
“For us, this is very good as a nation; for us as a zone which is south-west, it is very good. For us as a state, this is very good. As I speak today, Ogun State is the industrial hub of Nigeria.”
