Lagos, 14 other states on red alert for massive flooding

15 states, including Lagos, have been placed on a red alert to expect massive flooding of some of their communities anytime from now.

National Space Research and Development Agency which raised the alert in a statement, asked governments of the affected states to immediately relocate communities on flood plain to the high ground.

The agency named other states that will experience the imminent flooding as Taraba, Benue, Kogi, Plateau, Nasarawa, Kebbi, Edo, Delta, Anambra, Rivers, Bayelsa, Sokoto, Kano and Niger.

It added that over two million hectares of land is expected to be affected by the imminent flooding, thereby impacting negatively on the Nigeria’s food security.
