Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Mathew Kukah has denied calling for a military coup to remove president Muhammadu Buhari from office
He asks Nigerians to get the accurate statement he made, to interpret what he says, and stop listening to the distorted versions being circulated
Kukah in an interactive session with newsmen in Sokoto, says it is unfair for any journalist or a news medium to report that he is calling for a coup in his 2020 Christmas message
The cleric in the message which has attracted reaction from the presidency and some northern groups, had accused Buhari administration of being nepotic, and promoting northern hegemony
The presidency had since accused Kukah of inciting members of the public against Buhari, while the catholic church says it stands by what the cleric says Kukah says those linking message to partisan politics are playing to the gallery, because the message was his personal opinion
