Kukah Blames Elites for Nigeria’s Problems

Catholic bishop of Sokoto diocese, most reverend Mathew Kukah, has blamed the elites for the various challenges facing Nigeria today

Kukah says the failure of the political elite to unite Nigerians, is increasing frustration and making the criminal political and bureaucratic classes more daring in their exploits

The cleric, speaking to newsmen on the occasion of Nigeria’s sixtieth independence anniversary, says in the process, they are now stealing Nigeria blind and leaving the entire nation bleeding

He explains that the growing threat of secession is an expression of frustration of Nigerian youths on religious extremism, toxic politics, corruption and deep rot

As a way out, Kukah asks Nigerians politicians to start building bridges, instead of stealing votes or public funds The catholic bishop also says that Nigerians do not need any form of military intervention again, saying they are often worse than the disease they have promised to cure
