Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said that the proposed community policing system is a major option, in ending the growing insecurity in the country.
Also, Osinbajo says, the Presidency is exploring all options, including deploying troops to secure major highways against criminals, including kidnappers, armed robbers and bandits.
Osinbajo spoke on the issue, during a visit to Afenifere Leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, at his residence in Akure, to condole him on the killing of his daughter, Mrs Funke Olakunrin, by gunmen at Kajola village, near Ore.
The Vice President says, the Presidency has met with the Police and Service Chiefs on the policy for the proposed community policing.
Under the system, Osinbajo explains that Policemen will be trained in their Local Government Areas and will remain there, after their training.
Osinbajo was accompanied on the visit to Afenifere Leader by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State.
