Kano alleges former Deputy Governor collects N180m travelling allowance

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has accused his deputy of resigning for fear of being impeached by the State House of Assembly.

The Deputy, Professor Hafiz Abubakar, resigned over the weekend, citing irreconcilable differences with the governor as the factor.

He also accused the state government of failing to pay his official entitlements.

Governor Ganduje in a statement, dismisses the allegation, explaining that the former deputy governor, collected N150 million as travelling allowances in 2017 and this year alone from the state government.

In 2017, the governor says N120 million travelling allowance was claimed by the former deputy governor, and N30 million this year.

The travelling allowances, according to the governor, included N8.5 million for the graduation ceremony of his daughter in Saudi Arabia, which he said the state government sponsored.
