Kaduna relaxes curfew to stock foods *CAN warns against hasty review

Kaduna State Government has relaxed by four hours, the 24 hour curfew it imposed on Kaduna metropolis and other parts of the state to enable residents stockpile food items.

The curfew relaxation is only for Tuesday.

The relaxation of the curfew was announced after a crucial meeting of the State Security Council at the Government House, Kaduna.

According to the state government, the 24 hours curfew will remain in Kasuwan Maigani and Kujama between 5 pm and 6am.

In Kaduna metropolis, the curfew remains in kabala west, Kabala Doki, Sabon Natasha, Narayan Maraban, and Rido, following attempted or planned attacks on places of worship overnight.

The curfew is relaxed for residents in other parts of the metropolis between 1 pm and 5 pm, for shops to re-open.

Meanwhile, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has cautioned the state government against the hasty review of the 24 hours curfew imposed on Kaduna city on Sunday and Kasuwan Maigani five days earlier.

Secretary of the state CAN, Reverend Sunday Ibrahim, said reviewing the curfew at the moment is not advisable because the security situation in the state is still tense.
