Kaduna refinery shut down for lack of crude

Diesel and Kerosene production starts at Warri and Port Harcout refineries

Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has shut down Kaduna refinery.

The Kaduna refinery, which is one of the four local refineries was shut down since last January 15.

The refinery Executive Director (services), Doctor Abdullahi Idris, blamed the decision to shut down the plant due to the non-availability of crude oil from the Niger Delta Region.

Before the January 15 shutdown, he said the refinery was operating at 60 percent of its installed 125,000 barrel of crude oil daily capacity.

According to Idris, this translates into the production of four million litres of petrol, 2.5 million litre of diesel, and 1.6 million litres of kerosene daily.
