Kaduna State Government says it will begin implementing its version of new national minimum wage for workers on its payroll, as from September 1.
Deputy Governor, Hadiza Balarabe, announces the decision at the end of a meeting of the state’s executive council at the Government House in Kaduna.
The decision, according to her, was taken at the meeting which she presided over in absence of Governor Nasir El Rufai.
The new wage structure to be implemented, according to media aide to the Deputy Governor, Muyiwa Adekeye, will raise the monthly salary of the lowest paid workers by 67 per cent.
Workers on salary grade level 10 to 14 will also enjoy a 60 per cent pay rise.
The Deputy Governor explains that the new pay will raise the monthly salary bill of the state government from n2.82 billion at the moment to n3.75 billion.
