IRS airline boss seeks review of taxes paid by airlines

The management of IRS Airline has urged the Federal Government to immediately review the taxes and charges paid by airlines, saying airlines in Nigeria are over-taxed.

The Airline’s Managing Director, Alhaji Isiyaku Rabiu, made the call during the Lagos-Kano inaugural flight of Air Peace

Nigerian airlines, according to him, are operating under a hostile environment.

He added that Nigerian airlines are very over-taxed; and have many overheads, while fuel has not been consistent

He cited the instance of Med-View which according to him, has been struggling, and need to be supported.

Rabiu therefore stated that “If we get support from government, it is going to be a win-win situation.

“We will save a lot of foreign exchange that we are paying to the foreign airlines. We’ll build capacity, provide employment for the Nigerian Aviation sector and our economy will thrive and grow even more.”
