Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made clarification on the controversy on its alleged use of server for the storage of results of the 2019 Polls.
The electoral body says it only experimented its use for the transmission of results of the staggered Polls in Osun, Anambra and Sokoto, before the 2019 Polls.
INEC National Commissioner, Solomon Soyebi, makes the clarification at a retreat for INEC staff and ad-hoc staff used for the conduct of 2019 general Polls in Osun State.
Soyebi explains that INEC did not used the server during the 2019 general Polls because of last minute development which INEC did not envisaged.
He lists issues that compelled INEC from not using server for the Polls as including the controversy over the amended Electoral Act and the late approval of budget for the conduct of the Polls by the National Assembly.
