Implementation Of New Wage Begins From April 18, Says FG

The Presidency has said that Federal, State and Local Governments are owing arrears on the payment of the new n30,000 national monthly minimum wage.

The implementation of the new wage, according to the Presidency, begins immediately after President Muhammadu Buhari signed the new Wage Bill into law on April 18, 2019.

Labour and Employment Minister, Senator Chris Ngige, who announces this, while speaking to newsmen in Abuja on Sunday, says the arrears on the new wage will continue to pile up, due to the delay in the implementation.

Already, the Minister explains that the Presidency had set up a committee to work out a new template on the new wage.

The template, according to him, will later be negotiated with the Joint Negotiating Committee at the Federal, State and Local Governments levels.
