Imo State House of Assembly has impeached the State Deputy Governor, Eze Madumere.
Nineteen out of the assembly’s 27 members impeached the Deputy Governor; hours after the State High Court ordered them to suspend the impeachment process.
He was immediately replaced by Head of the State Civil Service, Callistius Okere.
The Speaker, Acho Ihim, said the Deputy Governor was impeached, following his indictment by a panel set up by the State Chief Judge to investigate the allegations levelled against him.
The allegations, include absconding from official duties for three months, boycotting the meetings of the State Executive Council and failing to attend official functions.
The impeached Deputy Governor who has declared his ambition to join the state’s 2019 governorship race had been at the loggerheads with Governor Rochas Okorocha who had tipped his chief of staff for the governorship ticket.
