Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has directed the Kaduna state police commissioner to investigate and arrest all the signatories to the ultimatum issued by a coalition of northern youth to all Ndigbo to leave the north.
Idris also ordered the state police commissioners and zonal assistant inspector general of police in the north to assist in the arrest and investigation of the youth leaders.
He issued the directive at a meeting with the state police commissioners and top police officers at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
“I want us to be at alert to ensure that such persons or group are stopped at all cost from carrying out their threats.
“No individual has the authority to stop anybody from looking for his daily bread,” he said.
He added that “we are facing new security challenges in the country and we have to respond to it.
“We are trying to enhance our capacity with the establishment of these units, taking into consideration the new security challenges in the country,” he said.
